Concerning his new movie, The Passion. Rather controversial. Should be rather interesting.

I won't catch it,but Mel totally rocks for what he did. One note: I read an article with an excerpt about the interview. Everyone is so concerned with anti-semitism. Mel even states"Antisemitism is a sin" End of story. The crucifiction WAS violent. I once heard an indepth speech on how crucifictions were carried out in those times. It was the most violent painful death ever used. I had a sick stomach when I was done listening and I am not faint of heart. Kudo's Mel Gibson for having the balls to do something you felt that strongly about and with such integrity.

Yeah...it's a big controversy for sure.
I read that they won't be showing the movie in Jewish communities. For the fact that it shows how the jewish were and how it shows the brutality and the pain Jesus went thru.
Reviews say that it's very graphic and straight to the point. One Reviewer said that it was about time someone went straight from the bible to show the pain that Jesus went thru for the people.
To me, it's like when PLATOON first came out and people were fighting over it. For the fact that Platoon showed what Americans were actualy like...in raping and killing Veitnamese children..killing innocent people just because they were Veitenamese.
Platoon showed that some Americans were murdering and raping and setting fire just because.
People were shocked and angry because it showed pure fact that the Americans weren't the heros that the US made them out to be.

you have to remember at that time,Jesus was a threat to the jews. Can you imagine how the majority of people would have felt if some strange man made these claims? We're looking at this from back to front. They had nothing else to reference it by. What he was saying went against everything they believed. You all know how people are when ever anyone different comes along. Immediately you are suspicious. Whatever you believe or do not believe antisemitism should not enter to this.

Given Gibson's propensity for revisionist
film-making (Braveheart), nobody's really
expecting this farce of cinematic self-
aggrandisment to anything less than another
purposefully egregiously misconstrued
steaming bucket of Hollywood bollox.
What the fuck right does Hollywood have to
redefine religion? People who watch the film
to 'see it as it was,' as the Pope put it,
are fucking idiots.

No one can ever watch anything from Hollywood and claim it is as it was,esp something with any historical significance. I will never look to hollywood at the very least for my reality. There are however documented facts that are put into movies. No one can ever know anything 100% regarding something historical unless they were there. regarding this movie,I beleive thats whats called faith. You either have it or you don't but regardless I would never call anyone a fucking idiot for it or lack thereof. I really try to respect people's oppinions. There are people out there who deny the hollocaust too. I could easily call them idiots(in fact,I think they are) but hey,who am I except another mere human being with thoughts and oppinions of my own,no more worthy of less worthy of significance than the next guy or gal.
